TUESDAYS

Portfolio Workshop
Ages: 15-18
This class is for art focused teens who plan on going further in the arts after high school, and are looking to build strong body of two-dimensional artwork. An artist’s portfolio, usually consists of a Concentration and a Breadth. A concentration is several pieces of artwork that are created with one specific media, technique, style, or theme to them; where as a Breadth is fewer pieces that show off an artist’s variety of skills in different medias and techniques in any style or theme. The main goal of this workshop is for each student to create and finish a concentrated body of work. The Breadth section will be touched upon, but not focused on as greatly as the artist’s concentration. The two hour class, twice a week will give students plenty of time not only to put together a strong and organized portfolio, but also have time to participate in group critiques. These critiques help the young artist learn how to talk about their artwork, express their feelings, give advice to other artists, and importantly begin to think about ideas of art on more conceptual levels. Advanced Placement Art Portfolio assistance will also be offered if any student is interested in the program. Room: J
