Beginning Skills for Potters- Day (Winter 2017-2018)

No class Friday, December 29th.

This class teaches the basics of wheel throwing, as well as creating the basic cylinder and bowl forms. This class will concentrate on weekly projects designed by the instructor. The first half of class will focus on basic techniques of centering and throwing for beginners. Later, there will be demonstrations in thrown and altered combining techniques, as well as decorative glaze techniques to enhance your surfaces. No experience necessary. 

Instructor: Danielle Catté

Danielle Catté is an interdisciplinary artist from Glenside, Pennsylvania. She has studied fine art, music, dance, and writing. Today her work comprises of painting, drawing, sculpture, and functional art. She studied at Tyler School of Art, Moore College of Art, and received her undergraduate degree from the University of the Arts in Philadelphia, PA, where she holds a BFA in Multimedia. She has worked as a ceramic artist at places such as Aeramique in Los Angeles, CA and Philadelphia, PA, and as an Artist-in-Membership at The Clay Studio in Philadelphia. Danielle strives in her work “to capture those subtle moments of importance, as they dance around in a single frame, with paintings, sculpture and functional art”.
