Beginning Skills for Potters- Evening (Summer 2017)

June 27-August 8 (No Class July 4th)

This class teaches the basics of wheel throwing, as well as creating the basic cylinder and bowl forms. This class will concentrate on weekly projects designed by the instructor. The first half of class will focus on basic techniques of centering and throwing for beginners. Later, there will be demonstrations in thrown and altered combining techniques, as well as decorative glaze techniques to enhance your surfaces. No experience necessary.

Instructor: Heather Ossandon

Heather Ossandon is an artist based in Philadelphia, PA. Heather earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Montclair State University in 2005. From there, Heather earned her Masters in Fine Arts from The University of Delaware in 2015. She is an artist and owner of Heos Ceramics, based in Philadelphia. Heather is an adjunct professor at Tyler School of Art, and is an instructor and studio manager at the Delaware Art Museum in Wilmington, DE.
She has earned various awards and honors for her work and has shown nationally and internationally. Heather is currently an Artist in Residence for Ceramics at the Cheltenham Center for the Arts.
