Cheltenham Center for the Arts - Resident Artist Program

The Cheltenham Center for the Arts Resident Artist Program seeks to enhance the creative educational experience at the Center by providing an exciting, nurturing and supportive environment for artists starting their careers or making a change. Our residents are self-supporting artists who wish to work and teach at the Center for one year.

The resident program is being offered in our clay, painting/drawing, and printmaking studios.  Residents will; have a small, private studio space with 24-hour access, be the studio coordinator for their areas, and teach classes at the Center.  At the end of the year residents will have an exhibition at the Cheltenham Center for the Arts showcasing the body of work completed during their residency.

The program welcomes self-motivated, focused individuals working in traditional and nontraditional mediums. The primary basis for selection is the strength and quality of the applicants' work; however residents must also have a clear objective for the time of their residency and be able to work as part of a close-knit community.

Each one of the Resident Artists will have day-to-day studio responsibilities working with our faculty and staff.  Each session Residents may teach one or more classes at the Center with approval from the Director.  The Resident will be expected to participate in all Center sponsored openings and special events.

There are three openings in the program for 2014-2015. We are accepting applications for artists working in clay/sculpture, painting/drawing, and printmaking or mixed media.  Applications will be due by March 10, 2014 for studios available beginning in mid-June 2014.  Notification will be made by March 21st, 2014
