Discover the possibilities of printing on paper with found rusty objects. Make interesting impressions in earthy brown, gray and orange tones obtained from rust (iron oxide), the natural oxidation process of ferrous metals, exposed to acidic conditioning and atmospheric moisture. Students will learn direct contact printing with rusted items, create a small hand bound booklet of unique sample prints and a 16 x 20 rust print. Tips on rusting metal, using rust as a pigment, and how to manipulate the print with other materials to push your work further will be given. Join this workshop and explore the creative possibilities for using rust printing in art. Feel free to bring personal rusted objects for use. All materials will be provided. No experience necessary.
