The Hand Built Clay Tray 2-Day Workshop

Winter 2022/2023 / Special Workshops

Workshop in January - 2 Days - 1/14/23 and 1/21/23.

Trays can be made in all sizes from the catchall size designed to hold loose change to the medium ones suited to side salads and the larger ones which serve so many functions; there seems to be nothing more impressive than serving tea with homemade cookies on a hand formed ceramic tray! Not only are there multitudinous sizes and shapes in the TRAY world, there are also countless ways to generate a resplendent finish on the tray surface. Which brings us to this Workshop, the purpose of which is to present as many of these variables in TRAY forms and TRAY finishes as possible. At the onset, Barbara Hanselman will demonstrate how easy it is to achieve awesome TRAY shapes, sizes and finishes. Then you get to go hands-on and create your very own earthenware TRAY forms at our first class: the second class will be spent finishing and glazing your tray creations.

Great for beginner handbuilding students, but all levels welcome!

$20 materials fee paid to the instructor.

***Rain date 1/28 if needed***

Masks, social distancing, and vaccination required. All subject to updates.

I started my own venture in clay 30 years ago and soon grew to be identified by my hand built whimsical pots. Today I am a Teaching Clay Artist and self proclaimed Claysmith, hand forming earthenware and stoneware into whatever it wants to be.
