This class focuses on creating still-life images with watercolor, depicting real objects like household items, food, plants, and flowers to add meaning and vitality to watercolors. The class introduces watercolor techniques specifically for still-life art, ending with sketches and painting. Focus areas include composition, observation, and color mixing for realism, using layering, washes, and techniques like wet-on-wet and dry for soft edges, sharp details. We'll depict shadows and highlights for form. Near the end, students will have a special opportunity to combine monotype printing with watercolor to produce unique prints on our printing press, merging spontaneity with creativity. All skill levels are welcome.
