2023 Summer Arts for Teens
CHELTENHAM CENTER FOR THE ARTS SUMMER ARTS FOR TEENS are specially designed for teens ages 13-17, who enjoy activities in the visual arts. Our programs give teens the chance to develop creative skills for self-expression by focusing on a single subject at a time. We encourage teens to explore the many ways to solve problems and think outside the box. A carefully planned program provides teens with a varied schedule that maintains a high level of interest and fun.

In this class, teens will learn how to effectively draw clothed human figures through observation and place them in settings. To learn how to capture the motion of the body, we will first practice simple gestural sketches. From there, we will progress to more polished pieces while learning about anatomy, proportion, perspective, value, and composition. Through handouts, demonstrations, and plenty of sketching from a live model, the class will develop observational abilities and fundamental knowledge of drawing techniques.
