New! Printmaking Workshop Series: Printed Fragments: Monotype & Handmade Journals

Spring II 2026 Classes / Special Workshops

Instructor Nicole Patrice Dul, M.F.A., will offer a workshop every session introducing participants to the broad spectrum of non-toxic printmaking techniques. Classes are beginner-friendly and provide hands-on experience with various processes for creative exploration. The key is to blend the traditional and contemporary, the technical and the expressive, to unlock the full potential of printmaking.

Spring II Workshop: 4 weeks, Fridays, 4/24-5/15

Printed Fragments: Monotype & Handmade Journals

In this four-week workshop, participants will explore monotype printmaking and handmade book arts while creating a unique junk journal. Students will experiment with additive and subtractive monotype techniques using a variety of substrates, media, and texture tools to produce expressive prints. These prints will be combined with found papers and collage elements to create layered journal pages. In the final session, participants will learn Coptic stitch binding to assemble their prints and collages into a handmade journal that opens flat. No prior printmaking or bookbinding experience required. No materials are necessary but students are encouraged to bring any old prints, mixed papers (old book pages, envelopes, scrapbook paper, magazines, etc.) and ephemera to be printed on and collaged for junk journal pages.

A $20 materials fee is payable to the instructor at the beginning of the workshop.

The series continues with a new workshop for Fall. Stay tuned!
